Setting goals maybe sounds like something you only do in business, but in fact it’s a natural part of everyday life.
Ambitions can, of course, be career-focused – but they might also involve buying your first home, having children by a certain age, or finding a life partner.
Not being where you want to be in life can be frustrating. It can also prompt anxious or depressive behaviours and feelings of failure, which can spiral and make you feel even worse.
If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you.
Examples of self-sabotage and limiting beliefs:
- Talking yourself out of starting something new - - Self worth issues (I don't deserve)
- Blaming yourself, others or the external as to why not or why you shouldn't.
- Distracting yourself from doing the task at hand.
- Constantly making excuses from fear, guilt or shame.
- Listening and taking advice from pessimistic and negative people.
- Wasting time on unproductive activities that give you temporary happiness or relief.
- Convincing yourself that there is no point, it's not worth it, or you haven't got the time.
- Lacking self belief or saying "You Can't" or you are not allowed.
What if I said that there’s a way forward?
You’ve probably heard of the ‘law of attraction’.
You may not have realised that it has an opposite: the ‘law of repulsion’. That’s right: emotional blocks and beliefs can actually repel the things we desire, attract or experience in our lives even when we think we want them.
Just like magnets, we either attract easily or push and repel people, experiences and acquisitions away.
Energy is at the heart of our physical and mental selves, and all energy vibrates at a certain frequency. When we understand we are energetic beings, that ‘emotionally vibrate’ at a certain frequency, we attract similar frequencies.
However, what we’re looking for may not be aligned with our current frequency.
When we are not aligned with what we wish to attract (whether that’s energetically, emotionally, or through our beliefs), we will end up blocking what it is we actually want.
