Breaking the Cycle: The Importance of Addressing Negative Beliefs and Behaviours for Ourselves and Future Generations.
This week, I helped two individuals in their early 40s overcome ADHD and self-worth challenges, both stemming from childhood trauma. Sadly, they had witnessed verbal and physical abuse between their parents and experienced verbal attacks when they tried to intervene.
As children, they yearned for peace, love, and harmony in their environment, but instead, they were exposed to dysfunction, abuse and pain.
A parent’s primary role is to nurture a child with love, self-esteem, confidence, and determination, leading by example and shielding them from negative influences to give them a better quality of life.
Unfortunately, many individuals, especially those who have experienced personal setbacks, fall into destructive behaviours like mimicking their parents' behaviour in relationships, potentially become violent and abusive or turn to substance abuse,
Breaking The Cycle Of Generational Trauma

People who have lost sight of their dreams and self-worth often normalise unhealthy behaviours and attempt to drag others down to their level of misery. They project their insecurity, self-hatred, and unresolved pain onto those around them, including their children.
This is why it’s crucial and necessary to prioritise our own mental health and wellbeing by working on becoming the best versions of ourselves. By addressing our hidden demons and unresolved issues, we can break the cycle of generational trauma and protect our children from becoming victims of the pain we've experienced.
People who have lost sight of their dreams and self-worth often find themselves in a dark place where negativity and despair have taken root in their hearts. The absence of hope for the future can lead individuals to normalise unhealthy behaviours, making it difficult for them to escape the cycle of misery.
Tragically, those who remain trapped in this emotional turmoil not only suffer themselves, but they may also drag others down to their level of pain and project this into the environment, either in the home and in the workplace. This can manifest in toxic relationships, unhealthy coping mechanisms, addictions, distractions and an overall inability to cultivate a positive, nurturing environment for themselves or their loved ones.
One of the most heartbreaking consequences is when these individuals project their insecurities, self-hatred, and unresolved pain onto others—especially their children.
The impact of this behaviour on children is profound, because children are incredibly perceptive especially in the early years of development, learning emotional cues and responses, picking up on body language, behaviours and attitudes, even when they are not explicitly aware what is happening around them.
When a parent or caregiver is struggling with negative beliefs about themselves and the world, it can affect their ability to nurture, guide, and love their children in a healthy way. Instead of fostering a sense of safety, security and self-worth in their children, they may inadvertently reinforce feelings of inadequacy, failure and confusion.
Over time, this can contribute to the development of negative self-perceptions in the child, setting them on a path where they, too, might struggle with self-doubt, insecurity, and an inability to realise and achieve their full potential.
Unfortunately, the damage does not stop with one generation. The cycle of generational trauma is real, and it is often perpetuated by parents who have not addressed their own unresolved emotional pain. When individuals fail to confront their hidden demons—whether they stem from childhood neglect, abuse, or unmet needs—they risk passing these unresolved issues down to their children. This may happen in subtle ways, such as through unhealthy coping mechanisms like substance abuse, emotional detachment, or unhealthy relationship patterns.
Alternatively, it can manifest more overtly, with parents or guardians actively projecting their frustrations, self-loathing, or their own unmet dreams and failures onto the children. Children may be expected to fulfil roles or meet expectations that are impossible or unrealistic, further diminishing their sense of self-worth and value.
The dangers of not addressing these negative beliefs and behaviours cannot be overstated. Unresolved emotional issues don’t simply disappear—they continue to fester, often escalating in severity over time.
Without intervention, these negative patterns can become ingrained and passed down through generations, creating a cycle of emotional pain and self-sabotage. In many cases, individuals who haven't worked through their trauma may not even recognise the damage they are causing to themselves and their loved ones. They may normalise behaviours that are toxic, unhealthy, or damaging to their own mental health and the mental health of others.
This is why it is crucial and necessary to prioritise our mental health and commit to personal growth. By addressing the hidden demons and the unresolved issues we carry, we can break the cycle of generational trauma and stop the transmission of emotional harm to our children.
This requires self-reflection and recognition, a willingness to seek help when needed, and the dedication to work toward becoming the best versions of ourselves. Doing so not only improves our own quality of life but also enables us to create healthier, more supportive environments for the people we love, especially our children.
Taking steps toward healing and self-improvement may not be easy, but it is one of the most powerful things we can do for ourselves and for future generations. When we address our emotional wounds, we not only give ourselves permission to heal, but also pave the way for our children to thrive without the burden of unresolved pain. This process, while challenging, is the key to breaking free from the toxic patterns that have held us captive for so long.
By taking responsibility for our mental and emotional health, we set the foundation for a healthier, happier, and more positive future—for ourselves and for the ones we love.
Healing starts with awareness, but it doesn’t end there. Simply recognising the issue really is just the first step.
If you're struggling with similar challenges, don’t deceive yourself into thinking you’ve healed and solved the issue just by acknowledging the problem.
The real work lies in taking action to rebuild your self-worth, heal from past traumas, re-write and change your negative and limiting beliefs, and create a better future for you and your family if you have one.
I have developed a fail-safe solution to address, mitigate and in some cases eliminate all those mental and emotional health issue that keep people stuck in the cycle of generational trauma
Using highly effective Conflict Resolution Therapy (CRT, previously known as Subconscious Reprogramming Technique or SRT), The CRT process goes directly to the root cause of either the mental, emotional or psychological elements and targets the subconscious mind, where those deep-seated beliefs, unresolved traumas, and the negative triggers and behaviours are stored
With CRT, the focus is on real measurable change, and not teaching tools to manage, cope or live with issues which keep people stuck. The method is designed to remove the negative thought patterns and emotional issue which are holding people back, offering progressive life changing results whilst also helping individuals overcome stress, anxiety, depression, or any other mental health challenges.
By using CRT and reprogramming the subconscious, I help individuals unlock their potential, find inner strength and restore the confidence to achieve lasting success and freedom from mental and emotional health issues.
